Sept Tour – 9/25/10

Hi All, our September tour will be geared toward the earlier 35 mph cars. Of course bring what you have and those of you travelling long distance that would rather drive than trailer I understand if you come modern. We’ve planned a poker run around Skowhegan We’ll never be more than maybe 5 miles from the center of Skowhegan. There are 5 stops planned, most of which you have never seen. The idea is to put in $10.00 per gambler and at each stop pick a card from the deck. At the end of the days tour, the person with the best hand wins the pot. We generally get 20 or 30 people on any given tour so the winner could go home with a couple hundred bucks. Not a bad days pay. For lunch we’ll have a choice of restaurants that are close together. There is a Chinese Restaurant that is clean and bright with a really good buffet that is fast for a crowd our size, and there is Charriers, more of a home style restaurant for those not wanting Chinese. They are both on Madison Avenue, the main drag in Skowhegan, and are less than a mile apart. Plan on meeting at Dale Watson’s house @ 40 Jewett Street at 9:30 or so and we’ll get underway by 10:00. This is a day of short hops from collection to collection, so ideal for the earlier cars. The late start should allow trailers or slower autos to be in town by 9:30 or so. We’ll have 3 stops before lunch and 2 after to get you back on the road by mid afternoon, headed for home. You should see something in the neighborhood of 50+ antique cars, plus all the related "stuff" that accompanies, most of which you have never seen before. We look forward to having you. See you then!
